Dr. Chong Chi Nai, a national of Malaysia, holds a Doctorate degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from University of Newcastle, Australia and a Bachelor degree (with 1st Class Honors) in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from University of Canterbury, New Zealand. Prior to joining Asian Development Bank (ADB), he lectured at Auckland University, New Zealand and also worked as an international consultant on many ADB- and World Bank-financed projects. 

He has been with ADB for nearly 23 years. Initially recruited as Project Engineer he progressed to Project Administration Unit Head and Deputy Country Director at ADB Nepal Resident Mission and then as Procurement Unit Head at former Central Operations Services Office. He also served as Country Director at ADB Laos Resident Mission and subsequently as Director of Southeast Asia Energy Division.

Currently, as Advisor based at ADB Myanmar Resident Mission in Nay Pyi Taw, he focuses on strengthening the procurement capacity of central level government agencies, executing/implementing agencies, and those in the private sector who are interested in the procurement activities of ADB-financed projects and technical assistances in Myanmar. He is also assisting Myanmar in its procurement reforms.
