Ms. Pham Thanh Hang, Programme Officer at the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNISDR) Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific. Ms. Hang coordinates UNISDR’s work in South East Asian countries and cooperation with the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN). She also leads in the area of local disaster risk reduction and urban resilience building through the global Making Cities Resilient Campaign and engagement with Members of Parliaments in the Asia-Pacific region. Prior joining UNIDR, Ms. Hang was the coordinator of the Basin Development Planning of the Mekong River Commission (2007-2010). She led a team of international and regional experts to analyze various basin development scenarios, facilitate dialogues among riparian countries and stakeholders and develop the Basis Development Strategy based on the principles of Integrated Water Resources Management. Ms Hang was the focal point for crisis prevention and recovery of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Viet Nam (1999-2007). She also managed a number of poverty reduction and social development projects of UNDP in Viet Nam.
