Mr. Simon Darnell is a Procurement Officer with the Infrastructure Support Team of the United Nations Procurement Division based in New York. Prior to this role with the Infrastructure Support Team he was a Procurement Officer for the Capital Master Plan project to refurbish United Nations Headquarters. Mr. Darnell’s background is as a Chartered Surveyor on major private and public projects in the United Kingdom. His previous appointment before joining the UN was with the procurement department of British Airways in London.

Mr. Darnell holds a Bachelor’s degree in quantity surveying from London South Bank University and is a Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.

The Infrastructure Support Team is responsible for the procurement of a range of facilities management services and security requirements to support the operation of UN Headquarters in New York. Additionally, the team provides procurement support to major construction projects at other UN headquarters offices and Regional Commissions.
