Theitdi Thein is a seasoned international development professional with over eight years of management and technical expertise in water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH), children and youth development, livelihood, rural development, and research. He is currently working for Plan International Myanmar as the Senior Manager for WASH, livelihoods, and youth economic empowerment initiatives. His WASH initiatives, in particular, have enabled communities in the Dry Zone to have access to clean water year-round with boreholes and piping installed, live in open defecation free communities, and form children-led WASH committees. He previously served as Water and Sanitation Coordinator at Myanmar Red Cross Society from 2008 to 2012 for cyclone Nargis operation and rural development. He was responsible for managing emergency water and sanitation units and training Red Cross volunteers on how to operate emergency response units and how to conduct rapid assessments. He has a Bachelor Degree in Chemical Engineering from Yangon University and he is enrolled in the Master of Public Administration program offered by Aldersgate College in the Philippines.
